GOTR -- Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues

There is a new feature over at the Paper Issues Friends & Fans Facebook page - Scraplift Sunday. We take a layout a member of the design team has made that week and we post it as inspiration to be lifted. This week, the layout was this amazing one by Mary-Ann.

I was so excited to scraplift this one. I made a layout about when my friends and went to see Gentlemen of the Road, which is Mumford & Sons' music festival. It was an epic weekend and Crate Paper's Journey line was perfect!

I used those amazing alphas from Crate Paper's The Pier line. I have been using them very sparingly. They are so fun!

I just adore banners. I took anything that was banner shaped (one of those is actually an arrow) from the ephemera pack and tucked them under my photo. I also used my tab punch to add a few tabs above my photo.

When I saw this 3x4 card, i immediately knew it would be perfect for this photo. I was really happy I found a use for that wood veneer tent! It's just so cute.

A new Scraplift Subday will be posted in our Facebook group on Sunday. Come join us, the inspiration is endless!

My Love

It's no secret that I love a good sketch. I was really excited to see the sketch that Scrapbook Circle posted on Friday. I couldn't want to get started.

I used Crate Paper's Journey line for the layout my boy. As soon as I saw the "you are my greatest adventure" card, I knew it would be perfect for an Andy layout. I cut it down a bit to fit inside the wood veneer frame.

I layered a bunch of papers from the line under my photo and the frame. I then added some bits from the ephemera pack around them.

I added some thread under the tag at the top and love the added dimension.

I had so much fun doing this sketch. Thanks for the inspiration Scrapbook Circle!

Best Ever - Paper Issues with Thermoweb

Hooray for the Red, White and Blue is the new Issue at Paper Issues sponsored by Therm O Web. The design team got to play with the Therm O Web iCraft Deco Foils and they are so fun and easy to use! I have a bunch of ideas of how I want to use the foils.

Therm O Web has foil transfer adhesive to use with the foils. In typical me fashion, I just jumped in and didn't read the instructions for the glue. I ues the foil immediately after applying the glue, and the foil didn't stick fully. After I read the instructions and saw that you need to left the glue dry before you apply the foil, it worked perfectly. It is so cool seeing how easily and well the foil comes off.

I also used the foils to make some medallions that I scattered around the page. I punched the circles out with the white foam adhesive and it was so easy to use since they're double sided. The photo doesn't do them justice, the foil transfers so smoothly.

You have until June 7th to link up your project for the chance to win an amazing selection of Therm O Web products. Check out the Paper Issues blog for all kinds of suggestions for your projects to fit into the theme.

The Therm O Web team is also sharing projects they made with the April swag bag all this week.

Lovely You

Today is my second oldest niece, Addison Blue's 11th birthday. She is the craftiest person I know, loves bright colours, and can rock a hat!

She has beautiful, long strawberry blonde hair she can do all kinds of braids with. Her cute, freckled covered nose is often found in a book.

There are so many elements in Maggie Holmes' Confetti line that remind me of Addie Blue- the bows, the bright, almost neon colours and the birds and leaves.

My sister took this photo on Addie Blue's 8th or 9th birthday. She had been making a lot of little scenes with twigs, leaves, and stones. They were tiny and intricate and so cool. I tried to recreate the feeling of Addie Blue at that age with this layout.

Happy Birthday to my little toot, I'm so lucky to be your aunt.

Love is Sweet

Our newest issue at Paper Issues is Let's Get This Party Star-ted and Par-ty Heart-y sponsored by SugarPea Designs. I decided to go with the heart and party suggestions and made this frame for good friends of ours using one of their wedding photos. Michele and Jesse's wedding was so pretty. I knew Maggie Holmes' newest line, Confetti, would be perfect for this photo.

I love this wood veneer frame that is part of the line. I had so much fun filling up each compartment with different papers. Some of the tables at the reception had lace tablecloths, so tucked a piece of lace behind the photo as a nod to that. Standouts are always one of my favourite parts of Crate Paper's lines. I used two tucked behind the photo at the top.

I used a large vellum die cut for the title and place the pink chipboard banner behind it. I love that added dimension.

Michele and Jesse had the most beautiful wedding invitations I have ever seen. I kept ours and decided to use part of it in one of the compartments in place of another patterned paper. I then added a few stickers from the 6x12 sheet and called it done.

There are so many suggestions on the Paper Issues blog for themes for this issue. You have until May 24th to link up your project for the chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the SugarPea Designs Boutique (plus free shipping)

This imperfect life

I may have squeeled a bit when I saw this month's Pinspire Me board. I loved all the  stars and the summery vibe. I knew I would make a layout about taking andy to the drive in last summer and how it didn't go exaxtly as planned, but is a memory we treasure anyway.

I actually had this layout almost completely done, but wasn't happy with it at all. I then had the idea to layer dictionary pages over my cardstock and painting some gesso over it. I am much happier with how it turned out.

I punched out a bunch of stars from white card stock and scattered them over the page. I finally used those blue doily die cuts from Crate Paper's The Pier line. I loved them, but could never find the right thing for them. I love how they look at the top of the page.

The title is from We R Memory Keepers Love Notes line and was perfect for this memory.

I layered some papers from Love Notes under my photo and added a few embellishments from My Mind's Eye and Evalicious.

I kept feeling like my page wasn't finished. I added a few large banner type pieces under the tag the photo was mountrd on and it finally felt finished.

Check out the Paper Issues blog to see the amazing layouts made by the design team. You have until June 14th to link up your own project for the chance to win one of two Pinspire Me grab bags.

Loves of My Life - Tombow Blog Hop

Hello and Welcome to the Tombow USA and Paper Issues Blog Hop!

You probably got here from Latrice Murphy but if you got lost, head over to the Paper Issues blog to start!

Tombow USA were very generous and gave the Paper Issues team an amazing assortment of adhesives to use on our projects: Tombow Mono Adhesive PermanentNEW Tombow Adhesive DotsTombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue and Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue.

For my project, I made a layout using one of my favourite photos of my husband and son. I wanted to showcase that Maggie Holme's Confetti line could be used on 'masculine' layouts and did not have to be birthday themed. I was actually surprised at how much blue and green I found in this line.

I used the Tombow Mono Adhesive Permanent to glue down all of my paper products. There was a slight learning curve with this adhesive, but once I got the hang of it, I was super impressed with how well it held everything down. It's definitely stronger than my usual tape runner. I used the NEW Tombow Adhesive Dots beneath my photo and really liked them. They were easy to use and held really well.

I used the Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue on all my bulky embellishments and I cannot say enough good things about this glue. I am officially a Tombow liquid glue convert. I used a few drops on on both the megal book plate and the bulky white flower and I have not had a problem with them sticking at all. I made this layout almost a month ago and I display my layouts standing up in my scrap room. Neither item has fallen off or budged at all.

I was so impressed at how well this glue holds, I actually used it on a card I made months ago that has a metal embellishment that keeps falling off. I have tried a bunch of different glues on it, but the embellishment keeps falling off. I used the Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue on it about a week ago and it is still holding just fine. The card is ready to be sent to someone finally!

Both Tombow USA and Paper Issues are offering giveaways, so be sure to visit all of the blogs on the hop.

Baby Grey - May Paper Issues Sketch

I look forward to the monthly sketches at Paper Issues so much. They always push me creatively and I have truly loved every layout I have made based on a Paper Issues sketch.

Starting this month, we're changing things up bit and basing the sketches on already existing layouts made by scrapbookers we admire. This month it's a layout Nicole Nowosad created for Fancy Pants.

I had a lot of fun making this layout using Maggie Holmes' new line, Confetti. It's about how Andy always calls his cousin, Evening Grey, 'Baby Grey'. I'm pretty sure she is going to be Baby Grey to him forever, regardless of how old she is.

I switched up some of the circles for different shapes and added some bulky embellishments to some of the spots. I just stuck with a few different papers with patterns that weren't too crazy, so they wouldn't compete too much.

I just love those faux leather bows. Luckily, I bought 2 packs, so I don't think I will run out any time soon. :)

It was so hard for me to commit to using that 'lovely' standout. I really, really love it and I only have one. It went so well with this layout though and I'm glad I did.

I used the big gold letters from this book and added a garland underneath as there was a bit of a gap before my photo started. I tucked some tickets from the ephemera pack under my photo, added a few little bits on the other side and splattered some pink and blue mist around.

You have until June 5th to link your take on the sketch on the Paper Issues' blog for the chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Paper Issues shop.

There are lots of items from the Maggie Holmes' Confetti line, as well as so many other new lines in the Paper Issues shop. Use code 'petitenoonie' to get 20% off your entire order!
