Springtime - Paper Issues with 17turtles

Paper Issues has teamed up with 17turtles for the latest issue, Egg-cellent Add-ventures. I was so excited to play with the Pie Chart Love cut file. I knew exactly what I wanted to do for this layout as soon as I saw it. This layout is all about what a long winter we had last year and all the things Andy loved about spring.

I used Maggie Holmes' paper almost exclusively for this layout, however the background paper is some older My Mind's Eye. This layout was truly a labour of love as it took me almost an entire afternoon to fill all of the pie chart 'slices'. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out though. This is definitely one of my favourite layouts I have made to date and I'm so happy I was able to use this beautiful cut file for it.

I really wanted the cut file to shine, so I did all my journaling on a tag and tucked it behind my photo. I also tucked some tags from this cut apart paper that had '2' on it as he was two last year. I added a camera paperclip from Open Book and an acrylic flower from We R Memory Keepers. I layered some old book pages behind my photo and love how it complements the patterned papers I used.

These turquoise glitter thickers just screamed springtime to me and I placed them on a banner I made from paper from Styleboard.

Now, on to the cut file itself. It is just beautiful. I knew I wanted to fill all of the 'slices' with different patterned papers. I chose the papers from Maggie Holmes' Flea Market line. They looked so springlike and they were soft enough that it wasn't too overpowering to have so many different patterns together.

To finish off the layout, I cut some strips of paper from Flea Market, folded them over and then stapled them. I layered them all beneath my photo and I just love the dimension it adds to the page. I have no idea how I'm going to fit this into a page protector though. :)

Head on over to the Paper Issues blog to link up your project for the chance to win a $20 gift certificate to the 17turtles shop. There are a ton of ideas there to use for project ideas. self timer shenanigans - Paper Issues Printables

Did you know that Paper Issues has free printables each month? They are so fun and perfect for layouts, Project Life, or even cards. Today on the Paper Issues blog, there is a round up of swag bag and printable layouts. Hope on over to check out all the amazing inspiration.

For my layout, I used the 'self-timer shenanigans' card from the April printables. I thought it would be perfect for this photo of my son and I from when he was a baby. It is technically a selfie, but I think it still works here. I thought I would get a cute photo of us laying on the floor together and at the last minute, he grabbed a huge chunk of my hair and this is what we ended up with.

I used bits and pieces from Maggie Holmes Open Book collection that I have laying around still. I absolutely loved this collection, but her new collection, Confetti is on its way to me and I adore it too. I wanted to make one more layout with some of my favourite bits from Open Book.

I cut some words from a cut apart paper and layered them along the printable. I then used some banner pieces from the ephemera pack beneath my photo and a die cut from the same pack tucked under my photo. I layered some of the amazing gold vellum over the wood grain paper. The title is from Dear Lizzy's Serendipity line. I just love that Thickers are coming in words now. I need so many packages of all of them!

While you're downloading all of the free printables from Paper Issues, you should check out all of the new CHA products in the shop! You can use my code 'petitenoonie' to get 20% off your entire order

Crop it like it's hot

Paper Issues had their first online crop this weekend. It was an epic two days of 24 challenges. While the actual crop is over, you still have until March 29th to submit your projects to the challenges. There is a prize for every challenge, including a four month spot on the Paper Issues design team.

I'm hoping to get a few more layouts done, but I was able to complete 7 of the challenges. One layout was for my challenge and a few more I was able to get completed before the crop. I'm definitely not fast enough of a scrapper to get 7 layouts done in a weekend!

This is the layout I did for my challenge, which was to scraplift a layout. I chose this amazing layout by design team member Leah L'Orange.

This was for Becky's free file challenge. I used the November cut files, which I have been dying to try for months now.

I made this for Devra's tic tac toe challenge. You were supposed to make a layout using one line of her board, but I loved all the items, so I just decided to use them all.

I loved Jen's no card stock challenge. I struggle with always wanting to use white card stock, so it was nice getting a push to break outside my comfort zone.

I absolutely adore Jen's sketches. They are always so amazing and this one might be my favourite yet. I used Pinkfresh Studio's new line, Up in the Clouds. I love this line and can't wait to use it a lot more.

Sherri's challenge to make it sparkle with gold, silver, glitter or sequins was right up my alley. I used new My Mind's Eye On Trend, with Crate Paper Craft Market and and Pinkfresh Studio Up in the Clouds.

Danielle's Pattern Play challenge was a lot of fun. I feel like I almost cheated since the pink paper I backed my title with was plain pink, but the A side was a full patterned paper, so I think it counts. :)

There are so many more amazing challenges and I'm hoping to get as many done as I can. You have until March 29th to link up your projects, so you should definitely play along!

love of my life - PI Pinspire me Monday

As soon as I saw the colour scheme for this month's Pinspire Me Monday at Paper Issues, I knew this photo of Andy as a baby in his St. Patrick's Day outfit.

I cut triangles from We R Memory Keepers' Love Notes 6x6 pad and placed them randomly around the page on the wood grain circles of this awesome paper by Websters Pages. I then sewed around a bunch of circles. I know a ton of people have done something similar with this piece of paper, but I loved it too much not to do it also.

I then added some cork embellishments from Love Notes, old puffy stickers from Amy Tangerine, as well as sequins and enamel dots in the colour scheme.

I typed out my journaling on my typewriter in strips and then sewed them down.

You have until April 5th to link up your project to the Paper Issues Facebook group for a chance to win one of two Pinspire Me grab bags inspired by the pins.

Happy scrapping!

hello three - paper issues saturday sketch

How has it been a whole month since I've posted? Our house has been plagued by sickness after sickness since Andy started preschool in January and the few hours of daylight we get each day make it difficult to take photos. Spring is almost here now though and I have quite the stockpile of layouts to photograph and blog. Hopefully you will be seeing a lot more of me here on out.

A new sketch went up on the Paper Issues blog last week. I know I say this for every sketch, but this is my new favourite. I love grids!

Any turned three the end of February and I thought the grid was perfect for a few of my favourite photos from the day.

I have been hoarding those brads from Crate Paper's Party Day line that I used instead of the hearts in the sketch.

The sketch had some arrows in this section, but few things say birthday to me like a garland. I ran three lines of this Dear Lizzy Fifth & Frolic garland instead of the arrows. Those pull apart banners sheets are some of my favourite embellishments of all time.

Chipboard frame from Crate Paper Open Book and the balloon die cut is from Heidi Swapp's September Skies line.

You have until March 20th to link up your projects (as many as you want) to the blog for the chance to win a $10 gift card to the Paper Issues store.

There is also a ton of new product in the Paper Issues shop Maggie Holmes. Crate Paper, Pebbles, Amy Tangerine, Kelly Purkey, and Bella Blvd. Use code 'petitenoonie' to get 20% off your entire order!!!.
